Opening in September is California's only fully accredited school of naturopathic medicine. Bastyr University, established in Seattle, Washington, is extending its roots to San Diego. The new campus will offer the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) program, and is expected to offer additional degree programs in the coming years.
The University chose San Diego as a second campus location after carefully considering the interest from potential students and patients (who would seek care at a teaching clinic), partnership opportunities with the region's health research institutions, a projected primary care shortage in California, and support from the state's natural health leaders..
Bastyr University California will be located at 4106 Sorrento Valley Boulevard in the heart of San Diego's life sciences cluster, approximately 14 miles north of downtown. It is within walking distance of the San Diego Coaster commuter train, and within a short drive of the University of California San Diego, Scripps Hospital and the VA Medical Center.
